Texas A&M University-Commerce honors veterans

Texas A&M University-Commerce celebrated its 20th Annual Veteran’s Vigil Nov. 3-5, 2011 with a program honoring the men and women who have served in the military, with special remembrances for prisoners of war and those missing in action. The 2011 program included an education and benefits fair for veterans and their families; a keynote speech by Dr. Richard Proctor, Brigadier General, U.S. Army, Ret.; the lighting of the vigil flame; a military dog demonstration for area middle school students; and a flyover by the 457th squadron NAS Ft. Worth JRB led by Col. Gallegos during closing ceremonies. Throughout the vigil, the flame was guarded around the clock by members of the university community and surrounding areas who were active or retired members of the military.
