One of the most celebrated entertainment highlights on the Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi campus is the annual Islander Revue music and dance extravaganza.
Islander Revue features high-energy student performances ranging from interpretive and hip-hop dance to stomp routines and spoof comedy musicals. The popular show attracts crowds of students, alumni, community members and families to the University’s beautiful Performing Arts Center. As one of our newest traditions launched by the Student Foundation Association in 2002, the event is held during Parents’ Weekend to spotlight the creative talents of student and Greek organizations competing for more than $2,000 in cash prizes.
In addition, all event proceeds help fund scholarships for deserving students each year. Islander Revue is the Student Foundation’s biggest annual scholarship fundraiser. The Foundation is dedicated to raising funds for student scholarships through a variety of programs that promote education, campus pride, and alumni involvement.
Islander Revue contestants are judged on musical quality, creativity, choreography, and entertainment value. Students compete for first place bragging rights, and a $1,000 grand prize to help fund a charity of their preference. And, the People’s Choice Award, is determined by audience reaction and presented to the crowd’s favorite performance of that evening. Islander Revue is sponsored by Whataburger.
