Texas A&M System to Host ‘Drive-In Fireworks’ at RELLIS
COLLEGE STATION, Texas — The Texas A&M University System is hosting a large-scale, drive-in style Fourth of July fireworks show at the sprawling RELLIS Campus in Bryan.
Texas A&M System Chancellor John Sharp is inviting the community to celebrate the national holiday safely.
“After many of the traditional Fourth of July fireworks shows were cancelled, it was mentioned that the expansive RELLIS Campus might be an excellent location for a celebration that would allow social distancing,” said Chancellor Sharp. “From that conversation came the idea of a drive-in fireworks event.”
The free community event will begin at 9 p.m. with patriotic music provided by WTAW at 94.5 FM and synced to the fireworks. The parking area will open at 7:30 p.m. to allow guests to select a viewing area from their vehicles.
Guests are encouraged to practice social distancing, including remaining with their vehicles during the show, wearing face masks when appropriate, maintaining six feet of distance between others and staying home if feeling ill.
“Bring your family. All we ask is stay with your vehicle and stay safe. Who knows? Drive-In Fireworks may become the new tradition,” said Chancellor Sharp.
The fireworks show will also be featured on the local TV station, KBTX, for those who are unable to attend in-person.
Co-sponsors of the event include: The Texas A&M University System, the Chancellor’s Century Council, the City of Bryan, SSC, KBTX-TV, WTAW and the Eagle.
