Search for New Texas A&M-Corpus Christi President Begins
COLLEGE STATION, Texas — The search for a new president for Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi has begun with the hiring of Parker Executive Search, an Atlanta-based search firm that has completed more than 2,000 searches for academic, health sciences, athletic and corporate clientele, including The Texas A&M University System.
“Our goal is to have a new president in place before the beginning of the 2017-18 academic year,” said Texas A&M System Chancellor John Sharp. “After the first of the year, we will form a search committee consisting of leaders from the faculty, the university and the community to assist Parker in fielding a strong list of candidates from across the nation.”
Dr. James Hallmark, vice chancellor for academic affairs at the Texas A&M System, will assist the search committee. He said Parker Executive has served the A&M System well in the past, most recently in the search for a president at Texas A&M International University in Laredo.
“We intend to find the most outstanding president to lead Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in the next phase of growth and development of the university,” Hallmark said.
In September, Dr. Flavius Killebrew, president at Texas A&M Corpus Christi, announced his retirement, effective Jan. 1, 2017. Dr. Kelly Quintanilla, the university provost and vice president for academic affairs, will serve as interim president.
