Texas A&M System Hires New Assistant Vice Chancellor in Academic Affairs for Data Science
COLLEGE STATION, Texas — Blake R. Decker, the former Assistant Vice President of Institutional Effectiveness, Data, and Analytics at West Texas A&M University, has joined The Texas A&M University System in College Station, System officials announced Wednesday.
In his new position as Assistant Vice Chancellor in Academic Affairs for Data Science, Dr. Decker will report to Dr. James Hallmark, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. Dr. Decker also will work closely with members of the System’s Budgets and Accounting team.
Dr. Decker will use statistical and machine learning methodologies to analyze data from across The Texas A&M University System’s 11 universities and seven state agencies. Dr. Decker then will provide data-informed insight to various System decision-makers.
“The level of data analysis Dr. Decker brings to our efforts in Academic Affairs and in Budgets and Accounting will be invaluable. I’m confident we will be able to serve our universities even better with his addition,” Dr. Hallmark said.
Dr. Decker added: “I am excited about the opportunity to contribute to the ongoing success of the Texas A&M University System and the great institutions it serves.”
Dr. Decker holds a bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech University, a M.A. in Applied Linguistics from Texas Tech and a Ph.D. in Public Policy from The University of Arkansas.
