The Prairie View A&M University Department of Athletics will officially break ground on its 15,000-seat stadium and athletic complex during a public ceremony at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan 30. The ceremony will be held on the grounds of the William “Billy” J. Nicks, Sr. Building adjacent to the north end of the football field.
The $60 million project represents a unique partnership between the Prairie View A&M Foundation, the University and its alumni base to produce a state-of-the-art facility for student-athletes. The complex is slated for completion in time for the 2016 football season.
“This moment signifies the culmination of years of planning to create a facility that is attractive to new recruits, provides our student-athletes with cutting-edge performance facilities and gives Panther fans an unparalleled sporting event experience.” said Ashley Robinson, athletic director.
