BRYAN/COLLEGE STATION — The season premiere of Around Texas with Chancellor John Sharp debuts Oct. 5, with a 30-minute episode that includes segments on Texas barbecue and artist Georgia O’Keeffe’s work from the time she was teaching at what is now West Texas A&M University.

The Emmy Award-winning show — which is beginning its fourth season — highlights incredible people, places and programs from across The Texas A&M University System. To check your local listing, or view an episode, visit SharpAroundTexas.com.

John Sharp, Chancellor of the Texas A&M System and host of the show, says he is not surprised by the show’s growth over the past four years.

“We created this show because a lot of people didn’t know how much the A&M System does,” Sharp said. “Most folks don’t know that we’re the No. 1 university system in the country doing hypersonics research, or that we’re in charge of the Los Alamos National Laboratory, or that Texas A&M is the No. 1 ranked public university in Texas, according to the Wall Street Journal.”

Most people also don’t know that in addition to the 11 universities within the A&M System there are eight state agencies that touch the lives of Texans every day, Sharp said.

“Whenever there is a hurricane, we have Texas A&M System professionals coordinating the response,” Sharp said. “And if you have wildfires that are out of control, it’s the A&M System putting them out.”

This season’s episodes include:

• A story of Reveille’s return home to the ranch in Kansas where she was born;
• An effort at Prairie View A&M University to digitize the photo archives of Texas’ oldest HBCU;
• And the story of Trayveon Williams, a former A&M athlete and NFL running back who now teaches about NIL and athlete advocacy at the Texas A&M University School of Law.

Each episode in the 12-show season includes two segments and two in-studio interviews with the chancellor and a guest.
