COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas Senate today approved the appointment of two new individuals to The Texas A&M University System Board of Regents, and reappointed Phil Adams, for terms to expire Feb. 1, 2021. New members William “Bill” Mahomes, Jr. of Dallas and Robert L. “Bob” Albritton of Fort Worth will replace outgoing regents John D. White of Houston and Jim Schwertner of Austin.
“I look forward to working with Regents Mahomes and Albritton, and returning Regent Adams,” said John Sharp, Chancellor of the Texas A&M System. “We will do great things together with the other Regents for the Texas A&M University System.”
Phil Adams is a 1971 Texas A&M University graduate. He is the owner and president of Phil Adams Company, which provides insurance products and services to business and individuals throughout Texas. Adams was appointed by former Gov. Perry to the Board in 2001 and reappointed in 2009, and was elected to serve a two-year term as Chairman of the Board in 2013. He served as Vice Chairman of the Board from 2011 to 2013, and has served as chair of the Committee on Audit and as a member of the Committee on Buildings and Physical Plants. He has also served as the Board’s special liaison to the Association of Former Students.
William Mahomes, Jr. graduated from Texas A&M University in 1969 with a Bachelor of Arts in Finance and received his Juris Doctor from The University of Texas School of Law. He is managing partner of Mahomes Bolden P.C., concentrating primarily in the areas of public finance and commercial real estate transactions. He has served as a senior partner for a major Dallas-based national law firm, partner for an international law firm, and senior vice president and general counsel to the Federal National Mortgage Association. Mahomes has over 35 years of experience as a business and real estate lawyer and over 12 years as a public finance lawyer.
Robert Albritton is a 1971 graduate of Texas A&M University with a double major in Economics and Marketing. Upon graduation, he was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force. He is founder, chairman and CEO of Mayfair Investments, LLC and chairman and CEO of RCL Services Group LLC. He co-founded Railroad Controls LTD in 1994, which became the largest privately owned railroad signaling and communications company in America.
